We were married here in CPUB Church in 2003. After my Navy retirement and a brief time working for the Navy in Norfolk, Jane and I decided to move back to Huntington and build our forever home. Sara Payne (Board Secretary)
I’m a native born Hoosier. I’m the oldest of four kids and grew up in Indianapolis, IN. I attended Indiana University in Bloomington and received my Bachelor’s in English Education. After college, I spent two years living overseas in Budapest, Hungary working with Cru and then worked as a high school teacher on the southside of Indianapolis for 9 years. I attended IUPUI to get my Masters in Educational Leadership. After marrying my amazing husband, Ryan, I began working online for Magnify Learning, which provides PBL professional development for teachers. In my free time I love workout classes, drinking good coffee, cooking, being outdoors, growing plants, traveling, and spending time with loved ones. I grew up in a loving Catholic family who taught us about Jesus, and I went to a Catholic school up until 8th grade. However much of my faith was filtered through a works-oriented lens due to the teachings of the Catholic church at my school, in my church, and within my own family. I approached salvation as the cross + _________. In college, I began to actively explore what it meant to follow Christ. It wasn’t a specific moment, but many moments that led me to a place where I could finally understand I could never be perfect and earn God’s love. That understanding of grace changed my life. I began attending College Park early on in my dating relationship with my husband, Ryan, and when we were married in May of 2016 it was a natural decision for us to keep attending. I am grateful to be a part of this community, and I love the people in it. Email Sara at sarap@cpubchurch.com
