Passing the Torch (Generations series finale) – Sermon Mar 11

“Passing the Torch”  (2 Timothy 1:1-7, 3:10-15)

Let’s consider three observations about passing the torch to the next generation.

First, to pass the torch, you must love the next generation. (1 Timothy 4:12)

Second, to pass the torch, you can’t just share your faith; you have to share your life. (2 Timothy 3:14)

Frequently share with the next generation how you have seen God’s faithfulness to you in times past so that they may be prepared to trust the Lord for their tomorrows. (Deuteronomy 6)

Third, to pass the torch, you must find your victory (satisfaction) in the victory of another.

Our response:
I want you to imagine that you’re writing a letter like Paul wrote to Timothy…

I, [your name], a follower of Christ,
In keeping with the promise of life in Christ Jesus
Am writing to…

And my question for each of you is… Whose name would you write down? Who needs you right now?
