I Quit Rushing (Learning to wait on God)
Scripture Text – Psalm 27:14
“Wait on the Lord. Be strong and take heart, and wait on the Lord.”
We continue our June sermon series I Quit this week with:
I Quit Hiding (Genesis 3)
We all face temptation to hide from God and one another (Genesis 3). But hiding can become toxic to the life God meant for you, and your relationship with Him and others.
What might hiding look like?
But if you stay in hiding, it becomes costly.
Well, here’s the good news. He is calling you out of your hiding.
1. God comes looking for you.
2. God gives you a promise. (Romans 8)
Are you ready to quit hiding?
1. I want to invite you to ask God to reveal any ways you are currently hiding from others or from Him.
2. We can help each other come out of hiding.
Rev. Roger Vezeau shares from Proverbs 4:23
How are you leading and feeding your soul?
I Quit Comparing
Let me tell you a few stories from the Bible to help us see why comparing ourselves and our situation to other people is such a miserable way to live. We’ll conclude by asking, “How do you get free from that?”
Cain and Abel (Genesis 4)
Isaac and Ishmael, Jacob and Esau,
David and Saul (1 Samuel 18)
There is another way. There is a better way.
John the Baptist (John 3:22-30)
Here are a couple of questions to take home:
1. Who am I comparing myself to?
2. Who has God made me to be, and how can I be content with that and use it for God’s glory?
What’s the joy God has for me? What are the gifts God has given to me? What’s the task God has assigned me?
